There is something about lingerie that makes a woman feel pretty, sexy. Corsets are very hot because they provide a sleeker, slimmer silhouette while giving a boost to all the right places. Plus size corsets are increasingly in popularity as more and more woman are realizing that sexiness and beauty don’t necessarily come in a size 4 package.
Corsets or “bustiers” come in a wide variety of styles and fabrics. Satin, silk, lace, leather and even cotton are common materials used. Some feature boning that give that sleek, slimming line, while others are less structured with no boning. Some are long, fitting over the hips and others are shorter, hitting right at the waistline.
Plus sizes start at a women’s size 14 and go up from there. A plus 14 is a little roomier than a misses 14. It is important, though, to try on the garment prior to purchase because different manufacturers use different sizing models and there may be a variance in the actual size.
Wedding dresses are notorious for this and plus size bridal corsets can run a little large or small as well. That is why a woman should not necessarily look at the size of a garment, but concentrate more on how it fits and flatters her, regardless of her size. Corset styles also determine sizing. For instance, a lace up corset will have more room for adjustment than one that zips or hooks.
Plus size gothic corsets combine style and romance. They typically are more decorative with lace, tapestry and satin, making good use of the whale boning and lace up back that slims the figure. In typical goth tradition, they can be paired with a gothic styled skirt or over a flowing goth dress. There is no end to their versatility.
Whether they feature a plunging V that highlights the décolletage or something simpler that is just fun and flirty, corsets are very feminine and sexy. They do so much for the female form, slimming and shaping, that many larger gals actually wear them better than their skinnier sisters.
There are no rules when it comes to bustiers. Any woman can wear them and, when fitted properly, can look smashing. There should not be any bulges anywhere which would indicate the clothing is too tight. But if the fit is right, any girl, plus or otherwise, can wear her corset with pride and style.
